EXPLORING EARLY MUSIC
Echoing Air is teaming up with the University of Indianapolis to offer Exploring Early Music -an innovative summer Workshop from June 8 to 12, 2026.
This unique enrichment program gives students a wonderful chance to work closely with asmall chamber music ensemble experienced in early music. The six faculty members are all professional musicians and experts in the field. They include Steven Rickards, a countertenor, educator, and Founder and Artistic Director of Echoing Air Indianapolis, andAndrew Flory, a noted lutenist and theorbo player. During the week, students will learn music from the Baroque and Renaissance periods, accompanied by authentic historical instruments. Each day includes small group or individual lessons and personalized coaching to build confidence and joy in performance. Students will participate in a midweek Master Class, as well as a public chamber music concert with the Echoing Air ensemble at the end of the workshop. Vocalists will work on solo and ensemble works to be performed during the final concert.
This music is also suitable for auditions, competitions, and outside performances.Instrumentalists may take lessons on recorder, Baroque flute, harpsichord, viola da gamba, or lute and will perform during the midweek and final concerts.
The workshop will be on the beautiful University of Indianapolis campus. Students caneither commute each day or stay in campus housing for an additional fee.
