Although long overshadowed by huangjiu (yellow wine) and the distilled spirit baijiu, wine in fact has a long history in China.Use of wild grapes in production of alcoholic beverages has been documented in archaeological sites that date back to 7000 BC and mentioned in various ancient literature. Eurasian grapevines first came to China during the Han Dynasty, around 2,200 years ago. However, it has only been since the 1980s that we have seen China devoted to modern winemaking.
Located at the Helan Mountain in NingXia, a newly developed region in China for the production of high-quality wines, Chateau Mihope specializes in expressing Helan Mountain's unique terroir with a wide range of grape varieties. The winemaking team is headed by flying winemaker Marc Dworkin, a veteran of 25 years of global winemaking. The Winery covers an area of 120 hectares, of which 100 hectares are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz as well as some white varieties like Chardonnay, Viognier, and Riesling.
