About this Event

Peabody Award-winning filmmakers Brent and Craig Renaud worked together for decades to tell human stories of conflict and courage. Their work has been honored by the Peabody Awards, the Emmys, IDA, the Overseas Press Club, the duPont Columbia Awards and the Edward R. Murrow Awards for their work with The New York Times. In 2019, Brent was named a Nieman Fellow by Harvard University. The Renaud Brothers contributed hugely to the growth of film in Arkansas in founding and managing the Little Rock Film Festival.

On March 13, 2022, Brent Renaud was killed in Ukraine while reporting on the refugee crisis. Juan Arredondo, who often worked alongside the brothers and was Brent's reporting partner on the Ukraine assignment, was seriously injured on that day but survived. A Colombian-American documentary filmmaker and photographer, Juan has chronicled human rights violations and conflict in Colombia, Venezuela, and Central America. He has been awarded a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard, a World Press Photo award, an Overseas Press Club Scholar Award, and an ICRC Humanitarian Visa D'Or Award.

Join us at Arkansas PBS for an intimate conversation with Craig and Juan as they share their experiences as documentarians and their determination to continue Brent’s mission of mentoring the next generation of filmmakers.
