About this Event

About the workshop:

“Exploring Authentic Connection to Self and Others” is a sound and movement workshop that will focus on connection to Self, self-attunement and authentic connection to others. The concept of Self comes from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapeutic framework, which states that we all have the system of internal parts who play certain roles as well as the Self who is in charge of the parts and the whole system. The Self is characterized by the qualities of Compassion, Creativity, Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, Calm, Connectedness and Clarity, and all of us have access to it given the right conditions. Just like when the kids in a family thrive when they are taken care of by a mature, responsible and nurturing adult, when the Self is in charge, it helps our parts feel safe and secure, and we can find ways to engage with ourselves and others in more authentic ways. In this workshop, we will explore this concept through a body scan, breathwork, making sounds, and movement both by ourselves and with others.

This event is part of the Reflection, Healing & Movement series and is held in Studio 7 on the ground floor of The Dance Complex.
