Exploring 42nd Street: Sites & Secrets of the Iconic Thoroughfare

From the glittering theaters of Broadway to countless architectural marvels, 42nd Street has long been a cornerstone of New York City's cultural and historical landscape. What buildings once defined the iconic two-mile stretch over the generations, and which ones are still around today? It's time to uncover the hidden stories and historic landmarks of this ever-changing Manhattan thoroughfare.

Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the famous sites and attractions along 42nd Street, one of New York's most vital hubs of entertainment, transportation, and business for over a century.

Led by licensed tour guide and native New Yorker Richard Soden, this specially curated walking tour across 42nd Street will include:

• A walk by Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters to learn how to differentiate these two iconic forms of theater
• A visit to several notable parks and plaza such as Times Square, Bryant Park, and Privately Owned Public Spaces (POPS)
• Photos of famous structures that are no longer standing, including the Crystal Palace, Latting Observatory, Astor Hotel, and Croton Reservoir amongst others
• A step inside some of 42nd's most coveted interior landmarks, including Grand Central Terminal, New York Public Library, the Daily News building lobby, Chrysler Building lobby, and Ford Foundation's atrium garden
