About this Event

Today the Quoile river and pondage in Downpatrick, provide an important haven for a diversity of local plant and wildlife species, as well as being a popular place for fishing and walking. But in the past the then tidal river was crucial to the development of Downpatrick’s economy and trade bringing goods and people to and from the town.

If you have ever wanted to know more about the history of the Quoile and its port then why not take part in these walking tours of the riverbank and old quays.

Please be prepared for all weathers with appropriate footwear, rain gear and a bottle of water. Please be aware that some paths are narrow and uneven.

Tour organised by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in conjunction with Clean Up the Quoile Group.
