About this Event

PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT US TO REQUEST A PRIVATE TOUR OR A DATE FOR A VISIT - WE WORK WITH YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Instead of wandering purposelessly in the National Gallery of Art, Tosca will lead you into an in-depth visit of the museum’s history and its masterpieces made by some of the world’s greatest masters.

You have heard of Raphael, Da Vinci, Titian, Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh etc but do you really know their lives and why they are geniuses? Together, we’ll dive into the lives of the painters behind some of the world’s most famous paintings as we wander the rooms of the National Gallery. If none of the following names ring a bell to you, we’ll make sure that they do by the end of the tour.

The National Gallery of Art houses paintings from the 1300 onwards, there is no shortage of choice. We’ll go from Da Vinci’s “Portrait of Ginevra de’ Benci” before fast-forwarding to Monet’s “Japanese Footbridge” to witness the different styles and evolutions in art. During this semi-private tour, you’ll be armed with the information and history that you’ll need to appreciate the 7,000+ paintings and sculptures on display at the third most visited museum in the USA.

In order for the guests to be able to better appreciate the experience, Tosca offers semi-private tours limited to 8 people (get in touch if you want a private tour, it's possible). Tosca brings you extensive knowledge of European Art history having studied and lived between Paris, Italy and London (UK).

About the guide:

Tosca Ruggieri was born and raised near Reims, a city in northeastern France and has spent a significant portion of her time in Italy.

She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Art & Archaeology from the EPHE-Sorbonne in Paris in 2015. Her broad interests in art led her to conduct research on subjects such as Etruscan Jewelry and Decorative Arts in the Italian Renaissance. In London, Tosca obtained a Master’s Degree from King's College London.

After a career in the art markets of Paris and London, where she worked with auctions houses, art galleries and private collectors, Tosca reconnected with her passion for art through teaching art history.

Now based in Washington, D.C., Tosca offers curated cultural tours of the capital’s National Gallery of Art which boasts from an overflowing collection of masterpieces from the Italian Renaissance to Modern masters. On Art With Tosca, she also offers a program of online lectures on a wide array of art history subjects. Her objective is to inspire through different aesthetics in art history and to transport her audience and guests across centuries of art.
