Dear Soul Music Co Presents the EXPLORE: Community Concert Series (formerly known as the Unplugged+Live Concert Series)! Sponsored by the ASC Culture Blocks, a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County. This touring concert series features live performances featuring local and touring talent and music artist community meet & greets in a listening-room environment.This edition is at Dupp&Swat - Camp North End!
Our March 29th performer is Morgan Gayla:
Morgan Gayla is a Charlotte, NC native who began her musical journey through musical theater when she attended Noda School of Arts as a teenager. This program put on musicals through a 6 week theater intensive . Gayla said “ the director of the Noda School of Arts Program Kelly Brown always told us to never let go of our God given talents this stuck with me all my life it took me a while to figure out which one of my talents I wanted to perfect but I always knew that I had a duty to create art that will inspire the world”. Before creating the #MorganGaylaBand, Gayla sang with Charlotte's Hip Hop Orchestrated from 2017-2018. Her first single Free Loving was released in 2018 . Gayla stated that “ I went into the studio pissed at my boyfriend at the time after finding out he was unfaithful. It's funny how something so traumatic can turn into a banger “. Her most notable single, “ Rock Yo World” was featured in the Hollywood short film , Offset. Gayla said “ Rock Yo World is the first of many women empowerment anthems. this track highlights self-worth and knowing that you are always the prize !” The emerging R&B artist is known for vulnerable lyrics. Her most recent and very 1st EP Evolution Of Mo was released on 09/30/2023 along with a Music video for the single Celibation and a series of behind the scenes footage on her youtube channel documenting her creative process. With a growing fan base and a unique musical perspective, Morgan Gayla continues to push the boundaries of creativity and self-expression through her music.
A little bit about the series:
Founded in 2013 by singer-songwriter ARSENA, The Unplugged+Live Series is a touring concert series in support of independent singer-songwriters. The series was initially a house concert with the idea of a listening-room experience in mind. In 2015, Unplugged+Live received grant funding from the NC Arts and Science Council. Since then the series has drawn local, regional, and national acts expanding from private living rooms into local public venues across the region. Each show features hand-selected acts for an intimate show allowing listeners to engage with their original work. To date, over 150 regional acts have featured in this series now expanding to Atlanta, GA and Austin, TX. We believe independent artists gain loyal fans through these experiences so we create them!
