Talking about what we want at the end of life can be difficult. We may know there are conversations we need or want to have with the people we love, but figuring out how to begin can sometimes be the hardest part.
This workshop grew out of a request during a recent Exploratory Conversation, and in October, we’re going to spend some time doing just that: learning how to start the conversation.
For this special workshop-style Exploratory Conversation, we’ll talk about how to begin conversations with family, friends, and loved ones around end-of-life planning, decisions, wishes, and choices.
We’ll explore what can make these conversations difficult, what we may want the people closest to us to know, and ways to approach these discussions before a crisis requires them. The session will include guided conversation, reflection, practical tools, and an opportunity to begin thinking through a conversation you may want to have in your own life.
Who is this for?
This workshop is for adults at any stage of life who want to become more comfortable thinking and talking about end-of-life wishes and choices.
You may be young and healthy. You may be helping aging parents or other loved ones. You may have experienced a loss that changed the way you think about planning ahead. You may be a solo ager or thinking about who you would want involved in your care and decision-making if you don't have a traditional circle of family or close friends. Or you may recognize that these are conversations worth having before they become urgent.
You’ll leave with ideas, practical tools, and language you can use to help you begin.
As with all Exploratory Conversations, you are welcome to participate at your own comfort level. You will never be required to share personal information or experiences.
