About this Event

Few areas of the world have experienced more turmoil than Southeast Asia. Cambodia stands center stage to unprecedented upheaval and suffering, most notably from 1975-1979 when the Khmer Rouge ruled the country.

Angkor Complex: Cultural Heritage and Post-Genocide Memory in Cambodia brings together more than 80 art works ranging from 12th century artifacts to pieces by contemporary Cambodian artists. This special exhibit consists of three sections: 1) the history of Cambodia and the temple Angkor Wat, 2) the modern understanding of loss and 3) cultural repatriation.

Meet us at 10:45AM at the museum's main State Street entrance (by the large white head sculpture) to start at 11:00AM sharp. Our docent-led tour will run approximately 1 hour. After our visit, you are invited to gather in the UMMA Cafe for conversation and refreshments.

Tour participation is limited to 15 people.

Parking is available on the street and at a number of lots, including:
-Maynard Street Garage, 324 Maynard Street (0.3 mile walk to museum)
-Forest Street Garage, 650 S. Forest Ave. (0.3 mile walk to museum)
-Student Activities Building, 400 Thompson Street, W13 (0.2 mile walk to museum)

Admission to the UMMA is free, but we are charging $10 per person as a donation to the museum.
