Expanding the Narrative
Thursday, February 23rd, 6 p.m. | Panel Discussion | VMHC
Ticket purchases include beer, wine and light hors d'oeuvres.
Every person’s story has value, but historically preservation efforts
have prioritized some stories over others. Join our panel as they
discuss local efforts to diversify narratives and ensure that everyone’s
history, including historically marginalized voices, is preserved.
Panelists:
Erick Krigsvold | Citizen of the Pamunkey Tribe, Digital Illustrator, and Founder of the Native States Project
Blake McDonald | Manager, Architectural Survey & Cost Share Grant Program, Department of Historic Resources, on his work with the LGBTQ Heritage Advisory Group
Krista Weatherford | Director of Programming and Community Engagement, Maymont, on her work on the exhibition, In Service and Beyond: Domestic Work and Life in a Gilded Age Mansion
After the lecture, mingle with peers and new friends to discuss how preservation is being interpreted in the 21st century!
