Expanding Equitable Nature Access Through Youth Employment and Programs

Join our February Peer Learning Network event, where speakers from Great Outdoors Colorado’s (GOCO) Generation Wild Coalition to learn how they have expanded equitable access to nature by:

• Dedicating positions in youth summer employment programs to expanding nature connections; and
• Expanding summer and after-school nature connection programs with a focus on equity, ensuring children of color or those experiencing poverty or other barriers have access to nature programs.

This session will highlight actionable steps that are important Children and Nature Connector actions as part of the Nature Everywhere Communities Action Challenge. If you are interested in expanding children’s access to nature and are doing these actions in your community, consider joining the Action Challenge in order to gain recognition for your efforts.

This capacity building event is part of the Nature Everywhere Communities initiative, a joint partnership between The Children & Nature Network, National League of Cities and KABOOM! to increase equitable access to nature everywhere children live, learn and play in 100 U.S. communities by 2025.

Who should attend? Ideally, anyone looking to increase children’s access to nature in their community and are curious about the Nature Everywhere Communities Action Challenge.
