Exoplanet Experts
About this Event
During this exciting, hands-on workshop, girls will become Exoplanet Experts and explore the fascinating worlds that orbit stars beyond our own Solar System.
After discovering what exoplanets are and how scientists find them, participants will work in small teams using real astronomical data from a known exoplanetary system comparing the sizes of stars and planets and investigating the distances between them. They will use a simple scale ratio to create their own model.
Perfect for curious thinkers, budding scientists and creative problem-solvers, this workshop brings together astronomy, mathematics, model-making and teamwork in an accessible and imaginative way.
No previous knowledge or advanced maths is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore the universe!
Suitable for: P5, P6 & P7 girls
Time: 1:30–3:00 pm
Cost: Free
