On Sunday, November 3, join Exhumed Films and PhilaMOCA for a roaring good time as we celebrate the birthday of cinema’s greatest gargantuan! In honor of National Godzilla Day and the 70th anniversary of the big guy’s debut, we’re thrilled to present a special 16mm screening of the iconic kaiju classic Godzilla, King of the Monsters in all its black-and-white glory!Directed by Ishiro Honda and produced by Toho Studios, the original Godzilla movie stands as a seminal work in the history of cinema, introducing the world to the legendary King of the Monsters. The film's groundbreaking special effects, innovative storytelling, and haunting score by Akira Ifukube have had an enduring impact on popular culture and genre movies across the globe.
Our Godzilla birthday bash will also feature kaiju & Godzilla-themed trailers and shorts, as well as a birthday cake and sing along. And while members of the Global Defense Force will be in the house to keep everyone safe, audience members should be warned: it is entirely possible that a giant monster or two might try to literally crash the party!
