Exhibition: TO SURVIVE For The Pain, For The Confusion, For Them Monsters
About this Event
When a child has to go through the unbearable, it does everything just to get through it somehow. It shuts itself off from the world. It barely survives.
The path to survival is marked by a deep pain and by total confusion. Survivors are often lost for words. How can one put into words something one does not yet understand oneself? How can one remember something that no little human being should ever have to endure?
Even when there was still no conscious memory of the horrors of the past, stories of the pain and of the confusion were told through this art.
This show is a step towards putting pieces together, towards building an understanding of traumatic episodes and towards not feeling ashamed or guilty of what was done.
It is a step of empowerment.
This is for all the survivors. The bravest people I ever met.

About Dr. Luisa Hammer
Dr. Luisa Hammer is an economist by profession. She enjoys the intellectual dives into the depths of society. Yet, her passion lies in the arts.
Her creativity is expressed primarily through painting, some clay sculpturing, and also singing.
Recently, disturbing memories surfaced. Now the task is to confront them, process them, and stay the course. She has chosen to speak openly about this—including in this podcast feature with Ms Informed.
An amazing son.
