The Cornell Art Museum presents Persistence of Matter, an exhibition showcasing artists who transform the forgotten into the unforgettable. Through thoughtful upcycling and environmental awareness, participating artists reimagine discarded materials—revealing their resilience, hidden histories, and potential for renewal.
This exhibition explores the enduring life of materials and the idea that what we discard does not simply disappear. Instead, it remains, shifts form, and waits for imagination. By elevating cast-off objects into compelling works of art, the artists challenge viewers to reconsider consumption, waste, and the environmental impact of everyday materials. Location: Upper Level Galleries, Cornell Art Museum
Opening Night: Live music, refreshments, and a meet-and-greet with participating artists
Curated by: Mavis Benson and Pam Lambie
The exhibition will also feature special programming, including artist talks, salon discussions, film screenings, installations, and additional events throughout the run of the show.
