Exhibition: Dogs In The Czech Republic, 2004 - 2024

Over the course of 20 years of living in Prague, Czech Republic, I have been struck by the Czech's particular devotion to dogs. Over 42 individually curated pictures, this exhibition traces the development of such, from the early millenium to the present day.It is interesting to note some facts about dog ownership in the Czech Republic in particular.

High Dog Ownership:A significant portion of Czech households own dogs, with one study placing them third in the EU for dog ownership per household.

Dogs in Public Spaces:Dogs are commonly seen in parks, on public transport (like trams), and even allowed in some shops, restaurants, and cinemas.

Well-Behaved and Socialized Dogs:Czechs are known for their well-trained and socialized dogs, which contributes to their acceptance in public spaces.

Positive Attitude Towards Dogs:Czechs generally have a positive and welcoming attitude towards dogs, often striking up conversations with strangers who have dogs.

Dog-Friendly Culture:Czechs' love for dogs is evident in their lifestyle and the way they integrate dogs into their daily lives.

Specialized Services:Some businesses, like hotels and restaurants, even offer specialized services for dogs, such as menus and water bowls.
