Exhibition: “3 Women…3 Points-of-View”

These three women: artists Carole Rosefelt, Donna Plunkett and Barbara Beyhl are close friends, yet their art is distinctly different.

Carole Rosefelt has been a professional artist since the 1960’s, and she is still making original art at the age of ninety-two. Each of her alcohol ink paintings in this show is a new creation. They are bold and exciting, based on organic abstract design.

works with paper and other repurposed materials to create three-dimensional creatures, as well as landscape scenes. For this show, she expresses her recent interest in birds, using sculptural rolled paper to make an ostrich, a flamingo, and a M**der of crows. She has also begun working with found pieces of rusty metal.

’s paintings and drawings employ paint, ink, graphite, and other media. She has also made two edible books from flowers, herbs, licorice and a Victorian recipe of sugar, cornstarch, and eggs. The theme of her work in the show is “The Human Element”. Her art is about deep human emotion, loss and rebirth, meant to provide avenues of solace.

The exhibition, “3 Women…3 Points of View” is on view September 3 through September 27 at GCAA ArtWorks, 5546 First Avenue, N, St. Petersburg. A reception will be held during Second Saturday Art Walk September 13 from 5 to 9 pm with refreshments and live music by acoustic folk musician Kari Kane. There is plenty of free parking, and the Sunrunner bus stop is only 2 blocks away at 58th Street. Admission is free and open to the public.
