With Gladness and Singleness of Heart: Works of Inga Dubay
About the Exhibit
A retrospective exhibition by artist, educator, and longtime Trinitarian Inga Dubay celebrating her lifelong search for meaning through art. For Dubay, making art is “a normal yet profound quest,” where each piece emerges from a process of doing, failing, and trying again. Her work explores the joys and sorrows of daily life, holding together the fragility and strength, conflict and resolution, dissonance and harmony that shape the human journey.
Working in painting, drawing, printmaking, and calligraphy, Dubay often weaves meaningful words into visual form. Text may appear forward and backward, arranged in grids, or embedded in abstract shapes, echoing ancient writing patterns and natural proportions like the golden mean. Through these playful yet contemplative approaches, she creates “mysteriously wondrous words” that invite us into new ways of seeing.
Grateful to family, friends, teachers, and community, Dubay offers this collection as a celebration of art-making itself: reminding us, as William Morris wrote, that “the true source of human happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life and elevating them by art.”
