ArtsinStark is proud to present Beyond the Classroom: SmARTS Teaching Artists Unleashed, on view November 6, 2026 - January 7, 2027, at Cultural Center Gallery.
An opening reception for Beyond the Classroom will be held Friday, November 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Enjoy the exhibit and light refreshments.
SmARTS teaching artists spend their time bringing creativity into the classroom, helping students make connections between the arts and academic learning.
This exhibition, curated by Ashley Palmer, celebrates the creativity of those artists, showcasing the work of SmARTS teaching artists, past and present, and offering a glimpse into the artistic talent and imagination that extends far beyond the classroom.
From the artists who inspire students every day to those who have helped shape the SmARTS program over the years, Beyond the Classroom celebrates the many talents, perspectives, and creative voices that make this community so special. Join us in celebrating the artists who share their gifts with students throughout Stark County and discover the work they create beyond their teaching practice.
The reception takes place in conjunction with First Friday’s Young at Art, a community-wide celebration featuring artwork from ArtsinStark’s SmARTS partner schools on display at businesses and galleries throughout downtown Canton. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity of both the teaching artists who inspire students and the young artists they inspire.
The Cultural Center Gallery is located in the lobby of the Main Stage Theater at the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Ave. N, Canton, Ohio. The exhibit is available for viewing Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please note: The Cultural Center Gallery shares space with our theatre, lobby, and Great Court, so if there’s an event or rental happening, the gallery may be temporarily closed to visitors. Learn more at artsinstark.com/events/beyond-the-classroom
