Dance Baltimore's Exhibit Expressions concert brings art to life by interpreting visual arts exhibits into sound, movement and dance.
Currently, on display at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum is BLACK WOMAN GENIUS: Elizabeth Talford Scott—Tapestries of Generations, an exhibit that focuses on works by Scott and other contemporary Black women fiber artists. The exhibit explores themes including Ancestry, Tradition, Fiber Narratives, and Healing with the assistance of dance selections by several professional companies.
Over the years, Exhibit Expressions has offered presentations at The Baltimore Museum of Art and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland. In this event, Dance Baltimore will return to the Lewis Museum to offer an afternoon performance offering impressions of “Black Woman Genius: Tapestries of Generations.” Performers will include SoundXpress, an ensemble from Prince George’s County; Hope Byers, choreographer/dancer from Howard County and the Dance Baltimore Repertory Ensemble (pictured, photo by Michael Bruce) from Baltimore City.
Tours of the exhibit are available following the mini performance. The concert and museum admission are FREE!
