About this Event

10 monologues

by 10 women

All taking back their apologies.

In a culture that try’s to squeeze us neatly into a small box, making us believe we are too much and yet not enough- merely breathing is an act of rebellion.

Created by Jennifer Esposito and Alicia Coppola

I Do?
written and performed by
Crystal Moreno Torres

A lover of French macarons, dark red nail polish, and silk scarves, Crystal Levy began her acting journey 30 years ago when she landed her first agent and became a professional auditioner (with some bookings here and there). After taking a hiatus to raise her three daughters, she is excited to return to the stage, reconnect with her craft, and share her love for storytelling with audiences once again.

Made Of The Highest Honor
written and performed by
Michelle Onufrak

Michelle is a Moth StorySLAM winner and graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She is a retired Admin Dom and her hobbies no longer include mothering grown men. Based in New York, she is officially proudly declaring herself a writer and an actor. Michelle screams endless gratitude to Jennifer, Alicia, Naomi & every woman in this group, past and present, for helping her see her inherent value, and to Caveat for providing us with the space to unabashedly share our truths.

I Wish, I Wish- Shaw-nay

Andrea Uppling

Andrea is thrilled to be amongst these passionate humans transforming their sorries into sight. A proud Chicago-based actor, Andrea's recent credits include work on A Streetcar Named Desire, What the Constitution Means to Me, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Her deep gratitude to Diane Sintich for introducing her to A Rebellious Act Project and for her unending heart. Thank you to Alicia Coppola for helping her see that her story is enough without "gilding the lily". And Jennifer Esposito,,,your bravery and internal fire has blazed the way for all of us to stand here tonight...thank you. All my love to Erik and our incredible Ella.

Soothing In The Heat
Written and performed by
Stephanie

Stephanie is a proud native New Yorker, born in Harlem, raised in Washington Heights in a family of performers. She was a veteran cast member of Off-Broadway’s STOMP and most recently appeared as a guest artist with Dorrance Dance at the Joyce Theater. Her favorite role is being “Mom” to her teenage son. A chronic apologizer, Stephanie is thrilled and by no means sorry to be a part of the “I’m Sorry” collective.

I Believe You
written and directed by
Stephanie Gilbert

Stephanie joined the first 'I'm Sorry Monologues' class after hearing Jennifer and Alicia talk about their vision of the class. The process of taking a person's story and turning it into art - starting a movement - connected with her and it's been a life changing experience. Professionally, Stephanie is a practicing mental health therapist who runs her own private practice and speaks on mental health topics. This group has given Stephanie a place for self expression and to share parts of herself in the community of others.

If I Was A Little Girl
Written and performed by
Camryn Adele Portagallo

Camryn Adele Portagallo is an artist from New Jersey, now in California & New York. Her music calls on her memory, intuition, and the history of her life. She is drawn to roots - raw human expression, ways we have always been as people, and what takes us back to who we are.

I Like My Nose
written and performed by
Sarah Mayhew

Is an actor/director & founder of Old Trunk Theatre.
I started life as a dancer, well not life, in life I was a baby but in my career I danced, and my first job saw me running away to a Circus, in Mexico, all feathers, fishnets & turning into a duck!
I worked in the UK & internationally, and after hanging up my tail feathers & packing up my tit tape I went on to work in theatre/TV/ film, radio & comedy (BBC, ITV, NETFLIX, SKY, CHANNEL 4, you know the vibes)
And I still do, when they’ll have me... trixy when you are over 25! I love dogs and am very fond of pickles.

Upstaged
Written and performed by
Linzy Taylor

Linzy is an actor, writer, producer, and self proclaimed Masshole from Worcester, Massachusetts. Sarcasm is her love language. She's currently living in Arizona with her soon to be ex-husband, ex-husband, and four of six of their collective children. Linzy is a content creator on social media who is known for her unique living situation, comedy sketches, singing, and parenting alternatively. Musical Theatre was a big part of her childhood, as was being rejected in the entertainment industry for being fat and obnoxious. Often being told she was "too much", made her dreams seem unattainable. Now at forty, she's more afraid NOT to make them a reality. Credits Include Su Friedrich's HIDE AND SEEK, and THE CHEER CHOICE AWARDS.

Jennifer Esposito
Creator/Director

Native New Yorker and award winning actor first brought the IM SORRY MONOLOGUES to LaMama theatre in December 2022. Jennifer, a long time believer in using art to heal, has proven this to be true with this deeply powerful vehicle for not only the performers but the audience alike.

Jennifer’s most recent work, Fresh Kills, a now critically acclaimed film in which she wrote, directed, produced and co-stars can now be seen on Amazon Prime and other outlets. She loves her dogs more than most people and hopes for a Donkey in the near future.

Alicia Coppola- (unable to attend)
Co-Creator of Excuse Me, I'm .

Naomi Hogarty
Producer/graphics/creator
