Exclusive talk with England athletics hopeful, Jessie Knight

As we announced recently, we're now the Official Commercial Property Development Provider of the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

We’ve got a whole host of activities and celebrations planned to mark the event, which takes place from 28th July in Birmingham and across the West Midlands.

To get us ready, we’ve got an exclusive talk with Jessie Knight, who’s hoping to compete at Birmingham 2022 as part of the Team England athletics team.

About the speaker

Jessie started athletics at the age of eight and it was her dream to make the Olympic Games which she has of course, achieved. Jessie tried to balance being a primary school teacher and a professional athlete and it proved difficult to keep up the standard required, and therefore decided to quit the sport in 2017. Jessie realised it was a mistake to quit and decided to make a comeback over a full year later and started competing again in 2019 narrowly missing out on the world championships. In 2020, she won the British Championships which is a remarkable achievement one year after her come back. In 2021, Jessie fulfilled her dream by getting selected for the Olympic Games. As of now, Jessie is ranked 5th fastest in the world & 2nd in Europe giving her a wonderful chance of a medal at the Commonwealth Games & European Championships and is currently ranked 4th fastest ever over 400m hurdles.

Jessie will be telling us her story about how she dealt with burnout, learnt from her failures and prioritised her mental health to become a medal hope for us this summer!
