Examples of Ecological Restoration Across the City of Mississauga
About this Event
Join the City of Mississauga and SERO for a tour across two Mississauga restoration sites! From wetlands to forests, you’ll see hands‑on restoration in action led by City of Mississauga staff, skilled contractors, and even our hardest‑working goat consultants. The field trip will start at O’Connor Park to look at a wetland restoration project including phragmites removal, artificial turtle beaches, and basking rafts. After we will drive to South Commons Park to observe the hundreds of trees planted within pit and mounds for amphibian nesting. The pits aid in water retention, habitat creation and climate resilience within the city. Join us to learn about the history, the planning and ongoing works occurring at these restoration sites.
