Examples of Ecological Restoration Across the City of Mississauga

Join the City of Mississauga and SERO for a triple‑tour adventure across three Mississauga restoration sites! From wetlands to forests to meadows, you’ll see hands‑on restoration in action led by City of Mississauga staff, skilled contractors, and even our hardest‑working goat consultants. The field trip has multiple locations starting at O’Connor Park to look at a wetland restoration project with the use goat management on site. The next location is Mattamy Sports Park to look at older growth forest filled with pit and mounds for amphibian nesting including nearby Western Chorus Frog habitat. Restoration work here has involved tree plantings and pit and mound creation. The last location will be Windrush Woods to look at a meadow restoration project with lots of invasive species management as well as the important integration of human interaction in the form of BMX-mountain bike trails on site.
