Evolution of the Gingerbread Man at the Parry Mansion Museum
Come join us for a fun and interactive event at the Parry Mansion Museum hosted by the New Hope Historical Society! Discover the fascinating history and evolution of everyone's favorite holiday treat, the Gingerbread Man with Heart to Hearth Cookery's Susan McLellan Plaisted. The program will focus on the manuscript receipt (recipe) Gingerbread of Jane Paxson Parry wife of Benjamin Parry (1787). Samples of her gingerbread and her actual receipt adapted for the modern cook will be available. Susan will also be demonstrating and providing directions on how to build a Sweetmeat Cone using Jane's gingerbread. The evolution of gingerbreads through the centuries will also be on display. This in-person event is perfect for all ages, so bring your family and friends for a sweet adventure through time!
