ReVision: The Future of Santa Fe Style - Session 2:

EVOLUTION BIKE TOUR: Santa Fe Style WWII - 1980s

For this installment in the Revision: The Future of Santa Fe Style series we invite you to travel back to the future with us to the Santa Fe of the Postwar period. We will travel, on bike, through five decades of the Santa Fe Style at its most innovative, experimental, and diverse. Our route will explore how the regional style evolved, before and after the 1957 historic styles control ordinance, in response to unprecedented growth, the demands of the automobile and energy crisis, emerging national trends, as well as the creative vision and informed critiques of a talented local architecture and design community.

This tour will zigzag roughly 14 miles through Santa Fe on a mix of paved roads/paths, gravel roads/alleyways, and some compact dirt. It will culminate with conversation and connection over a provided picnic lunch. Please be advised: this tour includes riding for short distances on the shoulder of roads alongside car traffic, crossing at major intersections and moderate climbs.

Basic supplies (bike pump, water, etc.) will be available, but we encourage attendees to bring their own gear (pump, patch kit, spare tube, water, clothing layers, etc.). Helmets are required, and you will be asked to sign a short liability waiver at the start of the event.

The suggested donation for this event is $5-10. Registration is required to attend and will be capped at 20 participants.
