Alicia Zapata is a Chicago based artist and public school educator. She is drawn to using ephemeral, discarded materials from thrifting, finding, and donations. In a world saturated with instant communication and relentless consumerism, Zapata's process of tactile creation serves as a deliberate counterpoint. It embraces the intentional slowness of craftsmanship and the physicality of materials reclaimed from obscurity.
