Academy Award winning director of DRIVE MY CAR, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, returns to our screens with gentle eco-fable, EVIL DOES NOT EXIST. When an uncaring conglomerate plans to build a glamping site in a small tranquil village just outside of Tokyo, the residents find themselves fighting to protect this untouched corner of the world.

The winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and Best Film at the London Film Festival, EVIL DOES NOT EXIST is a thoughtful portrait of a harmonious community ruptured by outside forces.
The film follows Handyman Takumi (Hitoshi Omika) and his young daughter Hana (Ryo Nishikawa) in a celebration of pristine spring water, lush mountainsides and serene forests where deer roam peacefully. A call to action, championing the conservation of untouched nature, don’t miss EVIL DOES NOT EXIST screening in the ACMI cinemas.
