About this Event
Is your child on a waitlist to see a mental health clinician? Are you feeling at a loss for how to help them cope with dark days at school and at home while you wait for support?
If you answered yes to the above then our evidence-based 6 week program around managing sticky thoughts and big feelings in a fun and healthy way is for you .
What's included:
For Kids:
- 6 x 1h group session with young people in the same age range as them
- Introduction to sensory modulation (changing how we feel using our senses)
- Break down the stigma of not being ok
- Connect with other young people and make new friends
- Learn coping skills to better tolerate and manage big feelings at school and at home
- Learn how to manage sticky thoughts so they feel more manageable
- Application of coping skills to specific tough situations at school and at home
- Homework given after each session to practice skills and rewire neural pathways
For Parents:
- 3 x 1h parent sessions
- Learn how to apply the coping skills learned in the program with your child at school and at home
- Q+A
- Lots of take home resources for ongoing learning
Toolkit:
- 1 x Cooling eye mask
- 1 x Kinetic sand tub with moulds
- 1 x Squishy
- 1 x Lavender OR lemon essential oil roll on
- 1 x Word search
- 1 x Box to store your sensory tools and decorate
- 1 x On the go bag to take your positive, portable coping tools with you to manage tough times whenever and wherever

Who is I Am Mindful?
I Am Mindful is an evidence-based social enterprise that runs workshops in schools to teach young people prevention focused coping skills to better manage their mental health. I Am Mindful has impacted over 80,000 young people and their families across Australia and is supported by The University of Melbourne and The Melbourne Clinic (Healthscope) psychiatric hospital.
Who is Be Kids Therapy?
Be Kids Therapy is a child and family-focused allied health clinic in Armadale, Victoria where the 6 week program will be run.
What age range would you recommend for this program?
We recommend this program for primary and secondary school aged children aged 8+
What is the cost of program?
The cost of the program including 9 hours total of parent and child sessions over a 6 week period, the toolkit and resources is $1,000.
A 10% deposit is required to reserve your place which you can do through Eventbrite. The balance is required by Friday April 21, 2023 which can be organized direct with I Am Mindful and Be Kids Therapy.
Please note: NDIS funding can be used towards the cost of the program.
* For price comparison, The Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2022-2023 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $280.
What is the age range for this program?
This program is suitable for young people in primary and secondary school.
Kids participating in the program will be grouped together in intimate groups of 6 people who are in similar age range.
