Whether you're a beginner or seasoned artist, this experience is all about connecting with materials, intention, and creativity.

Art is magic, and magic is the act of unlocking the hidden power in the world around us. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how objects can hold personal significance and energy, just like magic items in folklore. Through focused intention, your creation will carry your energy and become a powerful object of influence.

We'll take inspiration from the ancient practice of mask making, where cultures around the world have crafted masks from materials found in their environment to represent animals, elements, spirits, or emotions. The masks created in this class will be no different—they’ll be expressions of your own connection to the world.

Instead of traditional art supplies, you’ll use found objects—discarded materials, household trash, and items you might overlook in your daily life. The process of repurposing these materials mirrors how ancient artisans worked with what was available to them, transforming the mundane into something powerful.

About the Artist, Dylan McCann

Dylan McCann is a local professional artist and the co-director at Bridge City Montessori School. With years of experience and a deep connection to the creative world, Dylan has collaborated on murals throughout Arizona and Oregon, working with a variety of artistic mediums, including sculptures, monumental signs, and large-scale murals. His expertise and passion for art are evident in every project he takes on.

Upcoming Art Show - A Wall for Your Art! 

Dylan’s upcoming solo art show promises to be a major event, with him taking over the entire gallery space to showcase his unique artistic vision. As a participant in this class, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to display your mask creations at his upcoming show. This is a rare chance to learn from an accomplished local artist and have your work seen by the community.

What You'll Do:

• Create your own mask using everyday found objects.
• Spend time with your materials and allow the creative process to reveal the magic within. Whether your mask represents an animal, an element, or a feeling, this class will encourage you to unlock your full artistic potential.
• Exhibit your creation in our very first art show! You’ll have the opportunity to share your work with others, showcasing the energy and intent you’ve poured into it.

What to Expect:

• A relaxed, creative environment where you’ll feel empowered to experiment and express yourself.
• Support and guidance from Dylan McCann, an experienced and inspiring instructor, throughout the process.
• A chance to explore the deeper connection between art, culture, and the power of everyday objects.

Materials:All materials for mask-making will be provided, but feel free to bring any found objects you might want to incorporate into your creation or to share with others. (Think cardboard, toilet paper rolls, wine bottle cork, plastic bottles, old toys, fabric, buttons, string—anything that speaks to you!)
