Practical sessions for families and residents to use AI confidently in community and daily communication.
About this Event

Join us for Week 6 of the Everyday AI: From Curious to Confident series, an engaging learning journey designed to help residents of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities understand, explore, and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) safely and responsibly.

In this 60-minute session, participants will learn to use AI to support community participation and family communication. Through a safe, real-world example such as a volunteer drafting a friendly reminder for a community garden working bee participants will build confidence in interacting with AI using only safe, fictional practice data.

This workshop is practical, supportive, and designed for everyone. Participants will learn the following skills:

  • Community Writing: Draft notices, reminders, and updates for community groups.
  • Translation Caution: Explore AI translation—and understand where human review is essential.
  • Accessibility Rewrite: Simplify language so messages are clear for all readers.
  • Apply Safe AI Practices: Ensure no personal, confidential, or sensitive information is used in AI tools, and always verify facts and claims independently

Learning Outcome

By the end of this session, you will be able to use AI to support community participation and family communication safely. You will leave with a completed Community Use Plan your personal record that you can take home and adapt for your own community tasks.

About Everyday AI: From Curious to Confident

This friendly weekly session helps participants use AI to support community participation and family communication. You do not need to bring sensitive information or prior AI experience. We use safe practice examples and clear step-by-step activities. You will also receive a redo-at-home activity improving one notice or message using AI, then asking a trusted person to review it to help you continue practising safely after class.
