Everyday AI Series #5: Images, Voice and Misinformation
About this Event
Join us for Week 5 of the Everyday AI: From Curious to Confident series, an engaging learning journey designed to help residents of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities understand, explore, and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) safely and responsibly.
In this 60-minute session, participants will learn to recognise common AI-generated media risks and apply simple checks before acting or sharing. Through safe, real-world examples such as receiving a suspicious fictional voice message asking for urgent money participants will build confidence in interacting with and verifying information.
This workshop is practical, supportive, and designed for everyone. Participants will learn how to:
- Deepfake Awareness: Recognise signs that an image or voice may have been artificially generated or altered.
- Verification Steps: Apply a consistent set of checks before trusting or acting on AI-generated content.
- Pause Before Sharing: Build the habit of stopping to review before forwarding any message or media to others.
- Apply Safe AI Practices: Always use safe practice data and ensure human review is applied
Learning Outcome
By the end of this session, you will be able to recognise common AI-generated media risks and apply simple checks. You will leave with a completed Misinformation Checklist your personal guide that you can keep on your phone or print at home to use every time you receive an unexpected or urgent message.
About Everyday AI: From Curious to Confident
This friendly weekly session helps participants recognise common AI-generated media risks and simple checks. You do not need to bring sensitive information or prior AI experience. We use safe practice examples and clear step-by-step activities. You will also receive a redo-at-home activity such as discussing a family rule for handling suspicious voice, image, or text messages to help you continue practising safely after the class.
