About this Event
Back by popular demand! After a sold out run in August, Every Brilliant Thing returns to the Live Oak Theater for one weekend only.
Performed by Claire Houghton Renoe and directed by Jennifer Boesing, Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan is a funny and poignant theatre piece about the lengths we will go to for those we love. A child writes a list of everything brilliant about the world for her mother, who struggles with depression, as reason to continue living. The story chronicles her creation of the list, the forgetting and rediscovery of it as she grows into adulthood, and the difficult but worthy task of hope.
Every Brilliant Thing was originated by Jonny Donahoe at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and has since performed Off-Broadway and regionally, reviewed as "gloriously funny and exceptionally warm" (Time Out London), "one of the funniest plays you'll ever see about depression—and one of the funniest plays you'll ever see, full stop" (The Guardian UK).
Ticket proceeds go to Korsa Musical Theater Company.
Content Advisory: This production contains discussions of depression and suicide. If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about self-harm or suicide, there is help available. Call or text 988 for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Audience seating is onstage and primarily accessible by stairs. Please message for alternative acess to this onstage seating.
