Steve Sibra. When he was twelve years old, Steve liked to go outside during the summer, in the middle of the night, lay on the lumpy grass in front of the farmhouse where he grew up in eastern Montana, and look up at the sky. In the clear, cloudless darkness he could see a sea of stars, from one horizon to the other, all shining bright, filled with life and the promise of an eternity of wonder. In the distance he listened to the coyotes howl in the coulee a mile to the west. There were no city lights to dim the stars, no city sounds to hamper the voices of the wild. It was a life of dreams and promise. He decided, that summer, that he wanted to be a writer. Steve’s work has appeared in dozens of literary journals, newspapers, magazines, book anthologies, zines, chapbooks, and his full-length book of poetry, SHOES FOR BABY, published in 2022. His life has been blessed with the richness of experience, the sights and sounds and touch of amazing friends and companions. He is thankful for the opportunity to share his words with those who care to listen, and he is always thrilled to read at Everett Poetry Night, where he first read over a decade ago.
