An exuberant performance inspired by the work of forgotten Stokey poet, pro feminist and pioneer educationalist Anna Laetitia Barbauld
About this Event

In the bad old days before television and screens, how did people entertain themselves at home in the evenings?

Forgotten 18th Century Stokey poet, author and pioneer educationalist Anna Laetitia Barbauld had a few ideas about evening amusements, which have inspired pupils and teachers at St Matthias School.

So much so that after two years with little access to music and singing, the whole school has thrown itself into this musical and theatrical extravaganza funded by local charity DissentersArtsN16.

Evenings at Home is a brand new multi-media celebration of the St Matthias School Community, featuring Signed Song, visual art, drama and film. Devised and directed by Suzy Davies, Richard Free, Ali Parrish-Wood and Jan Rosser, it promises a modern day insight into what they got up to in 1790s.

All proceeds towards Young Dissenters youth choir

A (logo) Young Dissenters project. Funded by (logos) Dissenters Arts N16, and local financial advisers Ruth Whitehead Associates
