Join FBC and COS for an evening social and walk in search of the elusive and adorable American woodcock at dusk.
About this Event

(FBC) is dedicated to promoting inclusivity & safety in birding for everyone especially LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC & disabled folks and women.

Join FBC and COS for a social and walk in search of the elusive American woodcock (aka the timberdoodle). Woodcocks perform courtship displays after dusk in the Chicago area in late March and early April -- searching for them is a unique and fun birdwatching experience. Marian Byrnes Natural Area is one of the only transit and accessible places in the city of Chicago to witness these fascinating displays.

Registration is not required, sign up to save the date and get reminders before the event.

Meet at the south parking lot off 103rd at 6:30pm. We will have some time to walk the paved path and look for birds at dusk and make our way to the new boardwalk to socialize and chat - there are two benches at the end of the boardwalk.

No prior experience with birdwatching is required. This is a beginner friendly event and organization. Families are also welcome to join. Binoculars will be available for loan upon request.
