It is a great pleasure to welcome you to EUSAR 2024 in Garching near Munich. This is the 15th European Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, which has been held every two years since 1996. Over the years, EUSAR, the first dedicated conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, has become the leading international event gathering world-class scientists and engineers working in the field of SAR techniques, technologies and applications. EUSAR has accompanied the worldwide developments in the field of high-resolution radars and helped to build an international community of SAR experts. We look forward to welcoming leading experts from various disciplines and from more than 35 countries, who will present nearly 280 papers. The open spirit of this conference will provide an excellent forum for the exchange of information and discussion on a wide range of SAR-related topics and latest developments.
SAR systems are now an indispensable source of data for high-resolution 2D and 3D mapping, environmental and disaster monitoring and security applications. Over the years, the number of SAR missions has increased significantly and there are currently more than 50 operational SAR satellites in orbit. The current SAR missions are operational, and in addition to their scientific use, SAR data and products have gained a significant share of the commercial EO markets. SAR techniques and information extraction have matured in various areas, enabling operational applications and services, such as in the European Copernicus program. In addition to the various sessions on current and future missions, SAR technology, imaging and processing techniques, the technical program also includes a series of sessions on data analysis and applications in various fields.
