About this Event
European & Swiss Solar Awards 2026 | 29 - 30 October 2026 | Mendrisio/Lugano
On 29 and 30 October 2026, Swiss Solar Agency, in collaboration with EUROSOLAR – European Association for Renewable Energy e.V. and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), will host a two-day event presenting:
SOLAR ARCHITECTURES IN EVOLUTION
Solar Architectures in Evolution reflects a profound disciplinary shift. From early experimental integrations in roofs and façades to contemporary buildings conceived as active, energy-generating envelopes, photovoltaic technology has progressively reshaped architectural thinking.
The event will take place in German and English or in Italian and English. Translation will be provided either from German to Italian or from Italian to German, depending on the session.
Program – Highlights
Thursday, 29 October 2026 | SUPSI Campus, Mendrisio
During the afternoon, the Solar Machines Conference explores buildings that embody this shift. These Solar Machines are civic infrastructures at the scale of architecture and city: coherent organisms in which material, space, and energy operate systemically. They demonstrate that innovation does not reside in technology alone, but in the project’s capacity to align technical intelligence with cultural meaning.
Time: 2:30 - 5:30 pm, followed by an apéro
Optional: SUPSI Campus tour at 1:30 pm
Friday, 30 October | LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, Lugano
After a morning visit to Franklin University Switzerland (FUS) in Sorengo (Lugano), which anchors the discourse in lived experience, the European & Swiss Solar Awards Ceremony in the afternoon will translate this evolution into built quality. Awarded projects will show how photovoltaics can reinforce identity, activate façades, and contribute to public space.
Time: 1:30 - 6:00 pm, followed by an apéro
Optional: Franklin University Campus tour at 11:00 am
Participants can join individual parts or the full two-day program. Details follow this summer.
Please note that participants are responsible for arranging and covering the costs for their own travel and accommodation. The event is free of charge.
