About this Event

As donors age and approach end of life, nonprofits, medical professionals, families, and legal advisors all face delicate ethical questions. What are the rights and duties of each party? How should nonprofits engage with aging or terminally ill donors in a way that respects autonomy, avoids undue influence, and protects organizational integrity? What clinical judgments affect decision points around capacity, consent, and disclosure? What are legal obligations under Ohio law for wills, advance directives, powers of attorney, and other planning tools?
This panel brings together a legal expert, a clinician from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and a major gift officer to explore real-world scenarios. Through a mix of presentation, case studies, and facilitated discussion, participants will gain tools to navigate ethical challenges in planned giving, end-of-life planning, and aging with compassion, clarity, and compliance.
