Clinical supervision is a valuable way to give back to the field, and advance your career; however, the journey from being an experienced clinician to an effective and competent supervisor requires specialized training. The 2014 ACA Code of Ethics states that counseling supervisors have a responsibility of ensuring client welfare and monitoring of supervisee performance and professional development as well as regular attention to their own development as a supervisor. Keeping up with ethically relevant practices and understanding how to apply that knowledge is monumental in the effectiveness and success of any counseling supervisor.

This in-person workshop will provide participants with critical information and hands-on exercises regarding best practices for providing ethical clinical supervision. Beginning with a review of relevant ethical codes (ACA, ACES), including supervision requirements in the state of Wisconsin, and best practices related to clinical supervision, participants will explore the practical application of ethical decision-making regarding confidentiality, boundaries, and broaching.

This workshop is intended for counselors who provide clinical supervision or are interested in providing clinical supervision.

Participants will receive 4 NBCC clock hours for attendance of the entire workshop.

The MS in Professional Counseling Program at Mount Mary University is an NBCC- Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP), Provider Number: 4529, and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. Individuals attending this event who need continuing education credits for disciplines other than Counseling will receive a Certificate of Attendance that can be submitted to their professional licensing board.

Lakesha L. Jones a licensed Psychotherapist, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, and Independent Clinical Supervisor based in Wisconsin that supports mental health professionals to gain the supervision, training and guidance they need to enhance their clinical skills and confidence so they can positively impact the lives of individuals in the communities they serve. Lakesha is passionate about empowering others through collaboration and emotional wellness. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision at Mount Mary University. A devoted wife and mother, she also mentors’ youth, supports her community, and authored the book "Do The Work" on personal and professional development.

Allison Lancione has been a licensed professional counselor since 2015. As a professional counselor she specializes in trauma, mood disorders, and substance use. Allison has served as a clinical supervisor since 2020, and has provided supervision to LPC-IT’s, and APSWs. She currently serves as the Clinical Director for a mental health care center. Driven by her passion for clinical supervision, Allison is committed to helping counseling supervisors increase and develop skills that will lead to the successful supervision of developing counselors.

Along with her work in the counseling field, she is an adjunct instructor at Mount Mary University where she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Additionally, she also serves as a member of the West Allis West Milwaukee Behavioral and Mental Health Committee team, a division of the city’s Community Health Improvement Plan. Allison is passionate about increasing access to quality mental health care in the community, while reducing stigma around seeking help.

Dawn is a Doctoral student in the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program at Mount Mary and is also an Adjunct Instructor in the Graduate Program in Professional Counseling. She has experience as a supervisor of master’s-level counselors-in-training. She holds her LPC licensure and practices within an agency serving underserved and at-risk populations.
