An evening of experimental music at the Swiss Church in Covent Garden, exploring boundaries and links between sound, movement and scent.
About this Event

Eternal series presents an evening of experimental music at the Swiss Church in Covent Garden. Eternal March showcases a Rome-based duo of Tim Cape and Mayah Kadish, who explore mutual sonic physicalities incorporating violin, bass guitar, and other devices, and a solo set by a London-based artist Ecka Mordecai, who creates interdisciplinary works with sound and scent.

Irish composer Tim Cape combines notated music, improvisation and text to create playful, politically resonant works. Tim’s projects range from fully staged theatrical productions such as Still Drowsy, commissioned by Venice Music Biennale (2022), to his smaller scale vocal improv project Flindling (2025) broadcast on BBC radio 3 in 2025. He is part of the experimental music band Bastard Assignments alongside Edward Henderson, Caitlin Rowley and Josh Spear. In 2025 he was resident composer at Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, and Soundinitiative Ensemble (FR) performed his new work Soother, funded by Diaphonique and DRAC Ile-de-France, in Dublin and twice in Paris. His work has been performed internationally including Aldeburgh festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, hcmf//, Oxford Contemporary Music Series, Cafe Oto, Kettle’s Yard (UK), Lucerne Festival (CH), Spor festival, AUT (DK) Perifirein (NO), Music Current, RAMP Festival (IE), Constellations (US), Cattle Depot (HK).
Violinist and music maker, Mayah Kadish is at home in many musics – from early baroque to experimental music theatre, contemporary classical to pop. She is a keen collaborator in creating new music, and her own creations live in a creaky space that sometimes calls on these disparate worlds. Mayah has performed internationally as soloist in halls such as London’s Barbican (UK), Amsterdam Muziekgebouw (NL), Lucerne Opera (CH), Volksbühne Berlin (DE), Sadler’s Wells (UK), TSB Arena Wellington (NZ), Haarlem Philharmonie (NL) and Wiesbaden State Theatre (DE) amongst many others. As performer and composer, she often works closely with dance. Mayah is a co-founder of La Vaghezza, and has worked extensively with s t a r g a z e, and the members of Ensemble x.y.
Ecka Mordecai is a London-based artist working with sound, performance and scent, merging cello, voice, horsehair harp, eggflute, composition and improvisation in her interdisciplinary works. Her projects, such as the album “Promise & Illusion” (Otoroku, 2022) and “Aequill Sound”, a line of perfumes inspired by elements of the East London soundscape, explore emotional and sensory landscapes, dissolving traditional boundaries between performance and olfactory art. Performing since 2010, Ecka has appeared alongside the likes of David Toop, Malvern Brume, Thurston Moore, Keeley Forsyth, Ilan Volkov, Ex-Easter Island Head, Greta Buitkute, Dave Birchall and Kate Armitage. She has played at Cafe OTO, BBC Glasgow, Islington Mill and inside a Berlin wasserturm, amongst others.

Curated by Sasha Elina, the Eternal series of music events and multi-disciplinary situations is a London-based project (established in 2024) that aims to present and support diverse perspectives, communities, and artistic provocations. It welcomes the audience to join a movement that accommodates both emerging and established artists, bridging the classical and the novel. Music, theatre, dance, moving image, sound art, poetry and their crossovers enter the Eternal series, with no limits or genre restrictions.
