About the book
The first cycle of 2018 created in Gois, Portugal, is represented by the artworks and a series of poetry in English and Portuguese, and reflects the first stage of the emergence of Eternal Forest project, exploring the link between human communities, natural forests and monocultures in Portugal.
The second cycle of 2019 created in Coruche, during Bienal de Coruche, includes the publication of Eternal Forest Manifesto and excerpts from the book including images and poetry in English and Portuguese. This cycle begins the evolution of Eternal Forest vision to create 1000 Eternal Forest Sanctuaries and protect them beyond 1000 years.
The third cycle is a new project Council of Seeds developed during the months of an art residency at the Jardim Botanico de Lisboa and includes photographs of compositions with seeds found in the Botanical garden, 5 poems in English in the voice of the seeds and trees. It also includes artwork from this cycle created in calligraphic technique based on the poetry.
The book contains photographs from the exhibition and performances held in the Botanical Garden in June 2022. Introductory text by Sofia Marçal in English and Portuguese, a two-way interview between Patricia Lea Watts (founder and curator of ecoartspace) and Evgenia Emets, and the text by Evgenia Emets initially written for Empty Square.
The book also grants the reader access to Eternal Forest film online, and the audio guide to Council of Seeds performance in the Botanical Garden of Lisbon to be released at the end of the exhibition.
