About this Event
We invite you to join us for this special event in honor of AAPI month and The Hiroshima Flower Festival, an annual celebration that commemorates the flowers that bloomed in the aftermath of the 1945 atomic bombing.
In this workshop, guests will reflect on flowers as a symbol of peace and resilience, and learn about Etegami, the art of Japanese postcard making. Begin by taking a guided walk around the park and sketching some native springtime blooms, then use these sketches as inspiration to create your own flower-themed Etegami with watercolors. Finally, write a message of peace to someone you’re thinking of, and send it their way in the mail. Supplies and postage provided.
Who: Ages 8 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Where: Meet at the pinic tables outside the short grey ranger station, where the public restrooms are, adjacent to the Hunters Point Library.
4-44 47th Rd, Long Island City, NY 11101

Once signed in, workshop will take place on the Willow Lawn along the water.
