Secret Base Cinema is back at The Esquire Theatre on Tuesday, June 18th with director John Flynn’s ROLLING THUNDER (1977), with a script from legendary screenwriter Paul Schrader. Show begins at 7:30 pm, tickets $12, one night only!
US Air Force Major Charles Rane (William Devane) has returned to his home town of San Antonio from the Vietnam War, where he was held prisoner for seven years. Upon his long awaited and safe return, the town gifts him a Cadillac and 2,555 silver dollars- one for every day he was held captive, and one for luck.
A band of outlaws learn about Flynn's windfall and violently invade his home, killing Flynn's wife and child and mangling his right hand. Rane survives this ordeal and teams up with fellow rescued POW, Army Master Sergeant Johnny Vohden (Tommy Lee Jones) and prepares to take revenge.
Deceptively placid at times, contemplative, and brutally violent, this is a crime thriller not to be missed on the big screen.
