esperanza emily spalding is an American jazz bassist, singer, songwriter, and composer. Her accolades include five Grammy Awards, a Boston Music Award, and a Soul Train Music Award.
Bass, piano, composition, performance, voice and lyrics are tools and disciplines she is engaged in deeply to cultivate her own channel for transmitting care and beauty through vibration/sound/presence.
She has written an Opera with Wayne Shorter slated for premier in Fall 2021 // she is currently developing a mockumentary in collaboration with brontë velez and San Francisco Symphony // researching and developing liberation rituals in jazz and black dance // and continuing a lifelong collaboration with practitioners in various fields relating to music, healing and cognition to develop music with enhanced therapeutic potential.

esperanza spalding est une bassiste de jazz, chanteuse, auteur-compositeur et compositeur américaine. Elle a été récompensée par cinq Grammy Awards, un Boston Music Award et un Soul Train Music Award.
La basse, le piano, la composition, l’interprétation, la voix et les paroles sont des outils et des disciplines dans lesquels elle s'engage profondément pour cultiver son propre canal de transmission de l’attention et de la beauté par la vibration, le son et la présence.
Elle a écrit un opéra avec Wayne Shorter dont la première est prévue pour l’automne 2021. Elle développe actuellement un mockumentary en collaboration avec Brontë Vélez et le San Francisco Symphony, recherche et développe des rituels de libération dans le jazz et la danse noire, et poursuit une collaboration de longue date avec des praticiens dans divers domaines liés à la musique, à la guérison et à la cognition afin de développer une musique au potentiel thérapeutique accru.
