About this Event
Charting a Secure Low-Carbon Energy Future
The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is the leading energy policy think-tank in Singapore and Southeast Asia, playing an important role in positioning Singapore as a centre for strategic research and thought leadership on energy issues. One of ESI’s core objectives is to contribute to our government’s agenda to enhance Singapore’s economic competitiveness and to stay relevant on the international stage, while at the same time ensuring Singapore’s energy security and increasingly ambitious environmental sustainability commitments.
The return from Covid-19 coincided with an opportunity for ESI to set-out a new vision of research within the institute until 2025. While maintaining its expertise in three core areas (energy economics, energy and the environment and energy security), it has now set-out five research programmes of direct relevance for advising the Singapore government on its agenda to achieve a secure low carbon energy transition:
I Programme 1: Technology assessment and decarbonisation pathways
II Programme 2: Energy consumption and life-cycle accounting
III Programme 3: Strategies of other countries
IV Programme 4: Security of supply
V Programme 5: Carbon pricing and climate finance
This half-day event on Friday 27th January 2023 offers a first opportunity to publicly present this vision and the five programmes of research, and discuss potential opportunities to engage and collaborate with stakeholders.
Friday 27th January 2023 at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, Conference Room, Level 2
