The city of Newnan and Coweta county have experienced firsthand the disruption and destruction a tornado can bring. As disciples of Jesus Christ, our church is passionate about showing others the love of God through assisting with recovery and response following these natural disasters. Alongside many other trained and organized United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) teams, our Early Response Team (ERT) is dedicated to assisting with disaster recovery in Coweta county and beyond.
We are looking for people of all experience levels to join our own Newnan First Team which will consist of trained ERT (Early Response Team) and Long-Term Recovery Team volunteers.
ERT teams provide clean-up and remediation (i.e., tarping roofs, mucking out flooded houses, chainsaw team).
Recovery teams assist with rebuilding (i.e., roofing, siding, flooring, sheet rocking, other general construction needs).
Periodic trainings are available through the conference to become a badged ERT responder, chainsaw operator, and more. While training is required for some tiers of work, volunteers of all skill levels are welcome and needed. Anyone willing to work and a desire to serve will be a valuable asset to our team.
