About this Event

TAKE A HIKE® offers FREE, 90 minute, in-person walking tours of unique and historic neighborhoods in Cleveland!

Since 2008, more than 50,000 people have enjoyed in-person and self-guided tours! Advance registration is appreciated but not required, walk-ups are welcome.

The interactive walking tours are led by knowledgeable guides that will share fascinating facts about historical assets and key figures that helped make Cleveland a special place. You'll learn about architecture, cultural development, historic preservation, and Cleveland's role in American history. New development projects are also highlighted. Along the way, you'll meet important figures from Cleveland’s past, portrayed by actors and actresses, who will share with you their stories.

The Erie Street Cemetery Tour meets at the E9th Street entrance. Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts promptly.

About the Tour: Established in 1826, Erie Street Cemetery serves as the burial ground for many of Cleveland’s pioneer families and military veterans of the Revolutionary War and Civil War. This 45-minute tour will begin inside the East 9th Street entrance with a conversation about the lives of Cleveland’s first permanent settlers. Among the tour’s highlights will be the stories of 19th century civil rights pioneer John Malvin and Native American Joc-O-Sot also known as Walking Bear.
