About this Event
The 2022 Eric Heffer Memorial Lecture, hosted by Liverpool Walton Labour, will be delivered by Mick Lynch, General Secretary of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and introduced by Dan Carden MP.
Liverpool Walton is considered a Labour stronghold today, but it wasn’t always this way. A lot of this is down to charismatic socialist and trade unionist Eric Heffer, who won the seat for Labour in 1964 and held it until his death in office in 1991.
This free event continues the ongoing series of lectures in memory of Walton’s longest-serving MP, that pay tribute to his legacy and explore how the ideas of internationalist, democratic socialism he believed in can be taken forward today.
This year's talk will be a special centenery event, making 100 years since Eric was born.
The talk will take place at 5.30pm on Thursday 6th October at the Cornerstone Theatre, Creative Campus (access via cafe), Shaw Street, L6 1HP.
