Equity in Community Workshop - Chesapeake
This is a workshop on Equity in Practice. What does equity really look like in practice? This community workshop invites people to see equity in a tangible way. It invites participants to move beyond the buzzword and explore what equity means in the context of everyday community life. Together, we'll examine how equitable access to opportunities and resources, and a genuine sense of belonging, shape thriving communities.
Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and real-world scenarios, participants will examine barriers to inclusion, explore the historical and systemic factors that create inequities, identify the strengths that already exist within communities, and discover practical strategies for fostering inclusion, belonging, and lasting change in neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, faith communities, and civic organizations. Whether you're new to these conversations or looking to deepen your understanding, you'll leave with actionable tools to help build more equitable and connected communities.
This workshop is free and open to the community. To help us continue providing accessible educational programming and community-centered learning opportunities across Hampton Roads, we invite participants, those who are able, to make a suggested donation of $35. Donations are appreciated but never required, and no one will be turned away based on their ability to contribute. Every gift helps sustain future workshops.
